Job Description

Job Title: Ultrasound Technician Profession: Ultrasound Technician Specialty: Ultrasound Technician Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Experience: Minimum 1 year of clinical ultrasound experience License: Must have graduated from an AMA accredited Ultrasound Program Certifications: Must meet and successfully complete the ARDMS certification Must-Have: Graduated from an AMA accredited Ultrasound Program with a minimum of 12 months full-time clinical ultrasound experience. Description: Performs various ultrasound studies including abdomen, OB/GYN, pediatrics, basic vascular, and small parts. May perform interventional procedures. Ensures that two points of patient identification are obtained and that the patient is properly prepared. Obtains relevant patient history. Reviews the patient's chart to obtain pertinent clinical history, test results, and laboratory data for accurate interpretation of the ultrasound examination. Explains the exam to the patient, taking into consideration physical and emotional needs while maintaining ethical standards such as patient confidentiality and professional conduct. Delivers patient care within the scope of license and training. Utilizes universal precaution techniques and safety techniques specific to the patient’s status. Is knowledgeable in the operation of all equipment used during the workday. Notifies appropriate personnel of equipment malfunctions and repairs needed. Rotates within the department and all off-site clinics as required. Cooperates with all personnel, promoting harmony within the department. Maintains effective working relationships and communication with departmental and other personnel. Executes paperwork, PACS, RIS, and reporting functions as necessary for each patient exam. Prepares the equipment, room, and supplies necessary for each patient and regular daily use. Stocks and supplies the room and general department area as needed. Remains up to date on developments and trends in imaging techniques, procedures, and equipment. Participates in education programs and meets state and national requirements for continuing educational credits. Transports and transfers patients using established procedures according to departmental guidelines. Uses independent judgment and initiative under pressure in various situations while performing patient exams. Performs all other duties as directed.
