Job Description
Job Description As a part of the Global Supply Chain Organization, this position will be responsible for developing weekly control reports that demonstrate the performance of processes, gaps, and deliverables. This role will lead purchasing of finished goods for Grace USA facilities sourced from Grace locations outside of the USA, primarily warehouses in Baltimore (Cabot), Houston, and to some extent Chicago (an externally managed facility). The main goal is to ensure accurate purchasing orders, timely arrival for customer commitments, and active communication regarding delays, while maintaining and improving SOPs and processes. The Import Controller will partner with business stakeholders and the product management team to drive a reliable supply plan that satisfies NA demand for imported materials. The position requires discipline to execute activities effectively. Strategically, this role requires a strong understanding of Material Requirement Planning and Import Management, with the ability to identify opportunities for inventory management improvements. This role involves determining when Interco POs of finished goods (primarily for Grace’s MT business and some Specialty Catalyst items) need to be placed with sourced Grace Plants (mainly Worms, Germany, and Sorocaba, Brazil) and coordinating updates to the POs process to prevent stockouts and overstock situations. The role will be responsible for SAP MRP Master Data maintenance, ensuring master data parameters in SAP MDG are accurate, including Make to Stock or Make to Order, Lead Time, Safety Stock, GR Process timing, and other relevant parameters. Proceduralize the process by creating and maintaining SOPs and Work Instructions. Responsibilities Run reports in SAP daily or weekly and execute purchasing of sourced finished goods based on current inventory, open sales orders, forecasts, open Interco POs, and lead times. Evaluate system recommendations critically and confirm the appropriateness of order proposals. Use MRP to identify purchase orders requiring earlier delivery and monitor exceptions. Adjust POs as needed due to forecast changes or late shipments. Proactively follow up with sourced plant contacts regarding shipments. Track purchase orders with support from export entities and import brokers, flag issues, and question system or production concerns. Monitor shipments throughout their journey using Grace’s P44 AI-enabled tool, ensuring timely updates and alerts. Coordinate with regional forwarding teams and freight forwarders to expedite shipments, including direct and air shipments, and manage container release and drayage. Respond to urgent customer needs by coordinating with freight forwarders and logistics providers to expedite deliveries. Collaborate closely with Supply Planners to resolve material supply issues. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Administration or related fields; training in customer service, logistics, foreign trade is a plus. Advanced English skills (written, listening, speaking). Proficiency in SAP (SD, MM, PP modules). Good Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word). Experience Minimum of 2 years in Import Control, Purchasing Planning, or similar roles within logistics or industry.
