The Data Engineer will work closely with a multidisciplinary Agile team to build high-quality data pipelines driving analytics solutions. These solutions will generate insights from the organization's connected data, enabling the organization to enhance its data-driven decision-making capabilities. This role requires an agile learner, strong problem-solving skills, and a desire to solve complex data problems and deliver insights to support analytics strategy. Essential Functions: Create data products for analytics and data scientist team members to improve their productivity. Mentor and coach other data and analytics professionals on data standards and practices. Foster a culture of sharing, re-use, scalable design, and operational efficiency of data and analytical solutions. Lead the evaluation, implementation, and deployment of emerging tools and processes for analytic data engineering to improve organizational productivity. Develop and deliver communication and education plans on analytic data engineering capabilities, standards, and processes. Partner with business analysts and solution architects to develop technical architectures for strategic enterprise projects and initiatives. Learn about machine learning, data science, computer vision, artificial intelligence, statistics, and applied mathematics. Ensure timely analysis and testing for regular maintenance of solutions over time. Establish and implement data strategies for supply chain. Design and develop scalable solutions with international scope. Be recognized as an external thought leader in Data Engineering and Architecture. Knowledge and Technical Competencies: Skilled in data engineering, Python, dbt, SQL, data analysis, analytical skills, teamwork, and communication. Ability to design data architecture to support analytics squads. Evaluate different cloud services for cost-efficient solutions. Deep understanding of data mesh concepts. Assist in structuring data architecture solutions for the business. Develop business awareness of potential use cases. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or Engineering; postgraduate or PhD preferred. 6 years of experience in data engineering or architecture; 10 years preferred. Expertise in SQL, data analysis, and at least one programming language (Python or Scala). Experience with data warehouses in big data solutions. Experience with cloud computing services and infrastructure. Database development experience with Hadoop or BigQuery, and various relational, NoSQL, and cloud databases. Knowledge of data and analytics concepts such as dimensional modeling, ETL, data governance, warehousing, and handling structured/unstructured data. Big Data development experience with Hive, Impala, and Spark. Mentor junior team members and act as a technical consultant. Serve as a domain expert and functional advisor for stakeholders. Manage communication with product owners and lead team meetings. Divide projects into workstreams and delegate tasks effectively. Ensure project execution and timely delivery.
