Job Description Job Description Description: The Granite YMCA is currently hiring a Seasonal Head Lifeguard to join our team at the YMCA of the Seacoast in Portsmouth, NH. As a Head Lifeguard, you will lead by example—mentoring staff, fostering a safe environment, and contributing to a positive member experience. This position offers flexible part-time or full-time hours depending on your availability and interest. We’re passionate about career growth—many of our current Coordinators, Assistant Directors, and Directors began their YMCA journey as lifeguards. What We’re Looking For: We’re seeking a confident and experienced aquatics professional who has: At least 2 years of lifeguarding experience A current Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard certification Strong leadership and communication skills A commitment to safety and member satisfaction Bonus: Our Seacoast location boasts a year-round indoor pool and two outdoor pools operated seasonally, offering a dynamic and rewarding work environment. Key Responsibilities: Supervise and support lifeguard and aquatics staff in the absence of Aquatics leadership Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies in and around the pool area Maintain a strong, friendly presence and build positive relationships with members and staff Consistently apply all safety policies and operational procedures Keep accurate daily records in compliance with YMCA and health department regulations Conduct equipment checks and ensure all safety gear is stocked and operational, including rescue equipment and first aid kits Position Details: Schedule: Flexible start date (as early as May), with main season from early June through mid-August Availability: Preferred schedule is Tuesday–Saturday or Sunday–Thursday, with emphasis on afternoon and evening shifts Pay: Starting at $16/hour, with additional compensation based on experience Training: Free lifeguard recertification available through the YMCA Requirements:
