Job Description
Job Title: Duty Hub Social Worker Location: Wolverhampton area Pay Rate: £33.30 per hour Contract Type: Temporary Start Date: ASAP Hours: Full-time (37 hours per week) About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and resilient Social Worker to join our Duty Hub team in the Wolverhampton area. This is a frontline, high-impact role focused on urgent safeguarding responses and short-term intervention for vulnerable children and families. You will handle incoming referrals, assess risk, and coordinate prompt action in collaboration with multi-agency partners. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of those at risk, working in a fast-paced environment where your skills and judgement are crucial. Key Responsibilities: Act as the first point of contact for incoming referrals related to children in need, at risk, or in crisis. Complete initial assessments, gather relevant information, and make immediate decisions on appropriate action. Apply safeguarding procedures and legal frameworks to protect children and families. Work closely with health professionals, police, education staff, and other key agencies to ensure a coordinated response. Accurately record all decisions and actions using case management systems. Where appropriate, prepare and pass cases on to longer-term teams or escalate for further action. Participate in duty rota and contribute to a supportive team environment. Essential Requirements: Degree in Social Work (or equivalent qualification such as DipSW, CQSW). Registration with Social Work England. Recent frontline experience in children's services, particularly in a duty, MASH, or safeguarding context. Strong understanding of child protection legislation, thresholds, and procedures. Confidence in making autonomous decisions under pressure. Excellent communication, assessment, and recording skills. Enhanced DBS check (must be current or obtained prior to start). Desirable Experience: Experience using case management systems such as Liquidlogic. Familiarity with Signs of Safety or other strengths-based models.
