Job Description
Behaviour Mentor - Secondary School - Newham Long Term Futures are working with a well-established and forward-thinking secondary school in Newham to appoint a Behaviour Mentor to join their pastoral support team from September 2025. The school is known for its strong leadership, clear behaviour policy, and commitment to inclusion. Key Responsibilities: * Provide 1:1 and small group behaviour support for students in KS3 and KS4 * Assist with managing challenging behaviour inside and outside of class * Support the school's isolation room, helping students re-engage with learning * Work closely with Heads of Year, teachers, and the safeguarding team to implement behaviour strategies * Communicate with parents and external professionals to support pupil progress and wellbeing * Contribute to behaviour tracking, pastoral meetings, and restorative practices Ideal Candidate Will Have: * Previous experience working with secondary students with SEMH or behavioural needs * A calm, confident and supportive approach to managing behaviour * Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work across staff teams and families * The ability to de-escalate challenging situations and support students in crisis * A genuine interest in helping young people overcome barriers to learning Location and Transport - Newham, London E13 * Accessible via Plaistow and Upton Park stations (District & Hammersmith & City lines) * Local bus routes: 69, 241, 262, 325 * Easily commutable from Tower Hamlets, Barking and Hackney Why Work with Long Term Futures * Weekly competitive pay - up to £125 per day * Free CPD including behaviour management, safeguarding and trauma-informed practice * Long term and temp to perm roles only - no daily supply * Ongoing support from a specialist consultant with secondary and SEMH expertise * Clear progression into senior pastoral, behaviour lead or youth mentor positions If you're passionate about student wellbeing and want to join a school with clear values and strong support systems, apply today with Long Term Futures We are also recruiting for behaviour and SEMH roles across East London - visit to explore current opportunities
