Assistant Accountant

We are seeking an Assistant Accountant for a busy commercial business located in Newry, Co. Down. In this role, youll work closely with the Financial Controller, gaining valuable experience across a range of accounting functions while contributing to the success of a market-leading business. Assistant Accountant What Youll Get Clear career progression opportunities Competitive salary package Supportive team and positive working environment Key Responsibilities Daily cash sales reconciliation Management of Accounts Payable and processing payments Supplier reconciliations and liaison with suppliers, customers, and internal teams Supporting Accounts Receivable and credit control Assisting with import processes and month-end/year-end financial tasks Posting journals and performing control account reconciliations Bank reconciliations and assisting with monthly management accounts Submitting VAT Returns, CIS, and Intrastat reports Ensuring regulatory compliance with filing and documentation About You Minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience Strong team player with excellent communication skills Strong administrative/customer service experience Experience in credit control and telephone communications Strong systems experience, particularly Excel Ideally a professional accounting qualification Most importantly, a positive, can-do attitude and supportive of others in the work environment.
