Job Description
We are currently searching for an ambitious Civil Construction Estimator for our rapidly growing client in London, Ontario. This is a key position on the team and will appeal to someone who is self-motivitated and looking for unlimited growth in their career. Our ideal candidate is a strong team player with excellent organizational and analytical skills. You are passionate about Civil Engineering infrastructure and enjoy working with contractors to build strong business relationships. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare detailed construction estimates for projects up to $2 million for underground infrastructure renewals, residential subdivisions, road construction, structural culvers and bridges, earthworks, landfill construction, etc. Review plans and specifications for completeness, proactively analyze possible risks and development solutions Actively seek and coordinate assistance from the operations team for decisions regarding the sequence of operations, site constraints, crew sizes, productivity factors, and project schedule Develop/maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers Complete takeoff and bid compilation using B2W Estimate Support municipal infrastructure projects related to water supply, sewers, roads, site servicing and storm water management Assist in preparation of pre-construction and construction service proposals Examine and analyze tenders and make recommendations Follow the company cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures Liaise, consult, and communicate with consultants, contractors, and subcontractors Research and analyze cost data for review and presentation Assisting with Project Schedules, scheduling of employees Analyze and compile data from past projects that can influence costs and efficiencies of future projects Adhere to company policies/procedures while following OHSA and construction regulations Promptly escalate issues and concerns related to tender challenges Provide job costing reports when projects are nearing completion Suggest updates to policies and procedures to promote efficiency QUALIFICATIONS: Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Management Designation 7 years civil construction project management/estimating experience Experience navigating municipality specifications Ability to read blueprints, contracts and find special provisions and specifications Working knowledge of the Ontario Provincial Standards Act Maintain effective team relationships through strong interpersonal skills Knowledge of the sewer and water main industry an asset Demonstrated commitment to Health & Safety Excellent communication (written/verbal) and customer service skills Outstanding time management, problem solving, organizational skills Ability to act with integrity, credibility, self-confidence, and work independently
