Senior Imports Buyer

Sourcing & Procurement: Identify and evaluate international suppliers based on quality, pricing, reliability, and compliance. Negotiate contracts, pricing, incoterms, and payment terms for imported goods. Raise and manage purchase orders on ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle). Logistics & Coordination: Liaise with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and clearing agents to ensure timely shipment and delivery. Track orders, shipping schedules, and lead times to avoid supply disruptions. Ensure all documentation (invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, etc.) is in order for customs clearance. Inventory & Planning: Collaborate with planning and inventory teams to ensure optimal stock levels. Monitor and analyse buying trends, forecasts, and stock turnover ratios. Adjust buying patterns based on product lifecycle and business demand. Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all imports are compliant with local and international regulations, including SARS, ITAC, and SADC rules. Stay up to date with global trade policies, exchange rate impacts, and import duties. Mitigate supply chain risks through multi-sourcing and contingency planning. Cost & Performance Analysis: Continuously evaluate cost-saving opportunities and supplier performance. Maintain procurement KPIs including cost savings, on-time delivery, and supplier quality. Provide regular reports to management on import activities and spend analysis. Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or related field. Minimum 57 years of experience in a procurement or buying role, with at least 3 years in international imports. Strong knowledge of import/export procedures, incoterms, and customs regulations. Experience wokring on SAP. Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability.
