Job Description
Reports to: Director of Finance The Financial Controller ensures the development and execution of the proper processes and controls to support the organization’s business strategies. This role leads the execution of the month-end closing and reporting process and supports the development of financial reports, processes, and procedures to meet the changing demands of a growing international company. Additionally, this position oversees the accounts payable, accounts receivable, and treasury management teams, driving improvements across the accounting department to support growth and standardization. Key Responsibilities: ● Establish and implement internal controls over financial accounting and reporting. ● Assess internal controls, including risk assessments and risk area reviews. ● Maintain proper documentation and communication of corporate policies, procedures, and internal controls. ● Perform monthly and annual general ledger closing and reconciliations. ● Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records and timely financial reporting. ● Complete periodic bank reconciliations promptly. ● Oversee cash management and treasury in collaboration with the Director of Finance and Corporate Financial Controller. ● Manage accounts receivable, ensuring timely collections, justified deductions, and active monitoring of AR Aging. ● Manage accounts payable, ensuring timely payments, discounts utilization, and monitoring of AP Aging. ● Oversee valuation and accounting of inventory, including standard cost accounting, variance tracking, and reconciliation with 3PL partners. ● Participate in inventory management and accounting for both on-site and 3PL inventories. ● Prepare monthly financial statements and reports in collaboration with internal teams. ● Properly account for capital expenditures, disposals, depreciation, and track capex budgets. ● Perform financial and variance analysis versus budget and prior year. ● Respond to monthly performance and balance sheet queries from FP&A in a timely manner. ● Lead the annual audit process in coordination with external auditors. ● Coordinate periodic third-party inventory appraisals required by lenders. ● Manage VAT filing, collection, and reporting. ● Support the annual budget process with the Plant Controller and under the guidance of the Director of Finance. ● Handle special projects and other duties as assigned. ● Provide mentorship and professional development to team members. ● Set goals and expectations, regularly reviewing performance. Qualifications: ● Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Experience: ● Minimum 10 years in a similar role. ● Proven success managing P&L and balance sheets and leading cross-functional teams. ● Experience in the food industry or related sector is highly desirable. Skills: ● Proficiency in inventory valuation and control in manufacturing or distribution. ● ERP system experience required. ● Strong team collaboration and relationship-building across all levels. ● Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize effectively. ● Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. ● Continuous improvement mindset with a willingness to challenge the status quo. ● Financial and operational management and budget oversight proficiency. ● Fluent in Spanish and English (spoken and written).
