Executive Director of Operations LATAM This position has responsibility for the overall manufacturing Operations at Mexico and Brazil Function : Will provide strategic leadership support to ensure that resources and structure are in place for effective implementation of strategies to optimize the manufacturing footprint for the business. Responsible for driving continuous improvement by implementing Lean principles to ensure product, process and delivery flow within all operations across the Cluster and drive conversion cost optimization activities. Develop and lead, with the Plant Managers, the implementation of a strategy for maximizing capacity utilization, while focusing manufacturing resources on the highly engineered solutions and products in the portfolio Responsibilities: Develop and manage the implementation of strategic plans including Lean, operational development, and product manufacturing to “Manufacturing Excellence” status to ensure that critical milestones are achieved. Maximize synergies within manufacturing operations to reduce cost, eliminate redundancies and improve processes and product flow. Develop and direct short and long range manufacturing strategies, inclusive of product outsourcing strategies, to meet and exceed current and future business plans. Working with the Purchasing organization, responsible for inventory management and asset utilization as part of an overall recognition of the importance of ROIC. Define and recommend objectives in each facility.Develop specific short-term and long term plans and programs, together with supporting budget request and financial estimates. Rationalization of manufacturing operations between multiple plants to optimize cost, inventory and equipment and capacity utilization. Provide technical assistance to sales for customer product support and new production improvement introduction. Prepare aggressive, yet achievable budgets, and the delivery of results consistent with these budgets. Coordinate through subordinates, all manufacturing activities, scheduling, shipping and receiving, tooling maintenance accounting, MIS, engineering, human resource activities and program management. Maintain employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer employee relationship and promote high level of morale. Use Lean initiatives and techniques throughout the business units resulting in operating efficiencies, inventory reductions, quality improvement and economies of scale. Emphasize sound business and operations processes and build strong, effective and collaborative teams within the operations and engineering environment. Maximize manufacturing utilization and throughput to assure that each operation is the producer of the highest quality at lowest product cost. Ensure that world-class environmental health and safety work processes and results are in place and consistently utilized. Provide active participation and guidance to operations to ensure the manufacturing workforce is capable and motivated, working with maximum efficiency and effectiveness to contribute to the business. Benchmarking externally of process and manufacturing technologies. Establish standards for processes and equipments in coordination with Product Engineering and Advance Manufacturing. Support the establishment of new sites. Manage the transfer of new products, processes and equipments into new locations including needed training activities Experience: Minimum of 15 years’ experience. Experience will include managing operations in an industrial manufacturing environment with a proven track record of leading and managing a profitable operation. Experience working with supply chain management, including purchasing, logistics, materials management, outsourcing and “Make versus Buy” decisions. Proven track record in increasing inventory turns to world-class standards. Proven success in the implementation of lean manufacturing concepts in global environments. Prior leadership in continuous process improvement, total quality management, ISO standards and/or Six Sigma. Sound understanding of financials and ability to maximize ROIC. A proven track record of leading and managing cultural change within union and non-union environments. Ability to work well with people in a global team environment and to communicate effectively with people at all levels. Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Management and/or Engineering with a high degree of knowledge of financial management, problem solving and mentoring/coaching techniques. MBA would be a plus.
