Bookkeeper/VAT Specialist

Murray Recruitment are recruiting a Specialist Bookkeeper / VAT Specialist for our client based in South Lanarkshire. Role Overview: This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established accountancy practice with a diverse client portfolio spanning construction, hospitality, and retail sectors. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality bookkeeping and VAT services, ensuring compliance and accuracy across a range of business types. Key Responsibilities: Perform day-to-day bookkeeping duties for a variety of clients. Prepare and submit VAT returns in compliance with current HMRC regulations. Work with accounting platforms including Xero, QuickBooks, and SAGE. Liaise with clients to gather necessary financial information and resolve queries. Maintain accurate financial records and support the preparation of management reports. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a consistent and high standard of service delivery. Skills & Experience: Proven experience in bookkeeping and VAT return preparation, ideally within an accountancy practice. Strong working knowledge of Xero, QuickBooks, and SAGE. Excellent understanding of VAT legislation and compliance requirements. Attention to detail with strong numerical and analytical skills. Effective communicator, both written and verbal. Ability to manage multiple clients and meet deadlines efficiently. Offering: Competitive salary of £dependent on experience. Flexible working hours: core hours from 10am – 3pm, with flexitime available between 7am – 7pm; up to 10 hours can be carried over each month. 20 days annual leave plus 10 public holidays.
