Job Description
Qualifications: Educational Requirements: Diploma or degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Executive Chef) are an advantage. Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a luxury hotel or 5-star lodge environment. Proven track record of managing kitchen operations and leading a team in a high-end setting. Culinary Skills: Exceptional culinary skills with a strong understanding of various cuisines, particularly African and international fusion. Expertise in menu planning, food preparation, and presentation. Knowledge of sustainable and farm-to-table cooking practices. Leadership and Management Skills: Strong leadership abilities with experience managing and motivating a diverse team. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to handle high-pressure situations and make decisions quickly. Financial Acumen: Experience managing budgets, controlling costs, and optimizing financial performance. Strong understanding of inventory management and procurement processes. Guest Service Orientation: Exceptional guest service skills with a focus on creating memorable dining experiences. Ability to interact professionally with guests and address their needs and preferences. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with team members, management, and guests. Health and Safety Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of food safety standards and regulations. Commitment to maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.
