Job Description
Bus Shop Service Support Person Required for t he Two Hills Bus Shop St. Paul Education requires a full-time Bus Shop Service Support person to assist with general duties at the Two Hills Bus Shop. The Bus Shop Service Support plays a multifunctional role in supporting the safe and efficient operation of the school division's transportation bus and vehicle fleet. This position is responsible for coordinating parts procurement and inventory, hands-on mechanical support and maintenance services and assisting with day-to-day transportation services. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the mechanic, drivers, and administrative staff to ensure timely service, compliance with safety standards, and effective inventory control. K ey Responsibilities: Bus Service and Shop Support (80%): Act as a liaison between drivers and mechanic Assist in sourcing, ordering, receiving, and organizing parts and supplies for the bus shop. Maintain accurate vehicle records and parts inventory, usage, and restocking needs. Help coordinate with vendors, track deliveries, and manage warranty returns or exchanges. Ensure the office and parts area is clean, organized, and items are labeled and stored appropriately. Support budget tracking by entering all parts into inventory tracking and repair software. Collaborate with the Mechanic and Transportation Coordinator to schedule repairs. Provide general support to the mechanic, such as basic servicing tasks, fluid top-ups, oil changes and minor repairs. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop and work areas. Support preventative maintenance routines. Assist with documentation of service records and inspection logs. Transportation Services (20%): Assist with inclement weather evaluations Shuttling buses as required Keep the Transportation Coordinator apprised of bus fleet operational performance Qualifications: Experience working in a shop, school transportation, or fleet environment is an asset. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Basic understanding of vehicle parts, regular maintenance, and shop safety practices. Comfortable using computers for data entry, inventory tracking, and email communication. Valid Class 2S driver's license or willingness to obtain Class 2S license. Able to lift and carry parts or equipment safely as needed. Competencies: Strong work ethic and willingness to learn Team-oriented with a positive, helpful attitude Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious Good communication and organizational skills Ability to adapt and assist where needed in a fast-paced environment Working Conditions: Work is performed in a transportation shop environment. Physical activity includes lifting, standing, bending, and working around vehicles. Occasional outdoor work and exposure to mechanical tools and equipment.
