Fitter & Turner (Dairy)

Key Responsibilities: Perform routine and preventative mechanical maintenance on production line equipment as per maintenance schedules. Respond urgently to breakdowns, including after-hours and public holidays, to minimize production downtime . Fault find and repair mechanical issues, including replacing worn parts and faulty components. Remove and replace electric motors and variable speed drives (VSDs) as needed during breakdowns. Complete all job cards and maintenance records with detail on work performed, cost, and parts used. Conduct root cause analysis and recommend solutions to recurring equipment issues. Ensure that temporary repairs are followed up with permanent solutions. Comply with safety standards and company policies. Requirements: Qualified Fitter with Red Seal or equivalent trade certificate. Minimum of 35 years maintenance experience in a production or FMCG environment. Solid understanding of electric motors and variable speed drives (installation and replacement). Basic knowledge of industrial electrical systems. Experience within FMCG production environment, especially dairy, would be a huge advantage. Ability to work shifts, overtime, and be on standby for emergency call-outs. Physically fit and technically strong with good problem-solving ability. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Afrikaans . Must have own reliable transport . Personal Attributes: Results-orientated and proactive. Detail-driven and methodical. Able to work independently and within a team. High levels of responsibility and dependability. Resilient under pressure and committed to maintaining production uptime.
