THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE ARE: NON-NEGOTIALBE REQUIREMENTS: BSc, BTech, or Advanced National Diploma in Forestry, Wood Technology, or a related Natural Science field, with a sound understanding of primary and secondary timber processing technologies. A minimum of 10 years experience in timber trade or fibre procurement within related industries, including exposure to Industrial OHSA (risk assessments, safety procedures, environmental risk identification), and proven experience in implementing and managing FSC standards (CoC, CW, FM) with full compliance oversight. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Strong knowledge of financial principles related to procurement expenditure, inventory capital management, and budgetary compliance, along with above-average administrative skills, timber stock management, supplier communication, and a solid understanding of formal forest commodity markets and timber processing industries (both primary and secondary). A valid certificate of health (or willingness to undergo a full medical), AND a valid drivers licence, with significant on- and off-road driving experience. WILL HIGHLY COUNT IN YOUR FAVOUR IF YOU ALSO HAVE: A Postgraduate qualification in Business or Operational Management. Experience using SAP working knowledge of Power BI, including the ability to interpret data visualisations and infographics to extract operational insights. DUTIES WILL INCLUDE: TIMBER/FIBRE RESOURCES Perform site-specific source verification on all incoming timber commodities as required by FSC Standard FSC-STD-40-005 V3-0 EN. Ensure overall compliance with all aspects of the standard relevant to the processing facilities. Maintain detailed administrative records proving acceptable compliance Manage the Due Diligence System (DDS) Record and manage any aspects of non-compliance, including proposing changes to ensure compliance. To serve as an understudy to the TPM, ensuring continuity of procurement practices during periods of absence or annual leave. To assimilate and record general industry data as a support to the TPM for future strategic decision making. To coordinate incoming fibre logistics, ensuring commodity mix availability to the production processes while minimising logistical offloading constraints to timber suppliers. To serve as a communication interface between incoming fibre and Wood yard site management, coordinating and managing challenges that may arise from offloading times and space constraints. QUALITY MANAGEMENT Implement Quality Management by ensuring specified raw material timber (RMT specs) requirements are met during field audit surveys. Directly interface with all involved parties on any fibre/timber quality complaint that could lead to a downgrade or reduction in payment to the supplier before delivery. ADMINISTRATION Maintain the supplier database, ensuring updates to information as and when required. Monthly reporting on areas of responsibility. Maintenance of the FSC due Diligence System. Complete detailed call reports on all field visits and extension forestry sessions. SAFETY AND HOUSEKEEPING Attend monthly safety meetings. Identify potential risks and develop action plans to resolve them. Participate in incident/accident investigations and prevention. Ensure all non-conformances are investigated and corrective action is taken. ADDITIONAL To investigate opportunities that could reduce dependency on primary pulp products. E.g., burnt timber / oversized / older / dryer fibre / non-commercial species through liaising with the TPM. To, in consultation with the TPM, engage with emergent and small growers providing guidance and technical knowledge on entering the formal timber market. (Extension Forestry) to further expand the supply base. Be reasonably available 24/7 for timber operational and logistical events. To travel extensively between operational supply sites and industrial operations. To support the timber month-end stock take and consumption posting process through factor verification and/or advising on purchased timber characteristics influencing stock validation. To function as an integral member of the Timber Procurement IOW Team.
