Job Description
Responsible for managing the supply chain for purchased materials, including processes and procedures from the establishment of suppliers through receipt of materials. Assist the Regional Purchasing Manager with objectives related to material acquisition, supplier development and management, and material cost savings. Essential Day-to-Day Functions Implement and develop cost reduction plans on a worldwide basis. Develop supplier strategies for new items to optimize price, quality, and availability in conjunction with engineering requirements. Develop cost-saving strategies for assigned commodities and suppliers, including negotiation, quoting, supplier consolidation, and long-term agreements, under the guidance of the Regional Purchasing Manager. Execute strategies to meet annual cost savings targets. Monitor market conditions and trends; recommend adjustments to strategies accordingly. Develop and implement supplier reduction/consolidation plans to meet purchasing goals. Monitor purchase price variances and develop action plans for both unfavorable and favorable commodities. Facilitate resolution of supplier quality issues, including NCR process management with the quality team. Manage supplier improvements to eliminate quality issues and enhance delivery performance. Recommend process improvements to enhance on-time delivery. Establish and manage blanket orders in the ERP system, including transitioning expiring purchase orders and agreements. Manage transactional processes in the ERP system to ensure accurate supplier information and pricing; collaborate with accounting for standard costs. Gather and report purchasing metrics to support supply chain performance, such as purchase price variance, cost savings, and supplier reduction. Recommend management changes to improve material availability without compromising customer service or safety stock levels. Coach and develop functional reports. Qualifications / Education Bachelor's degree in business or engineering preferred. Experience in purchasing or supply chain management within manufacturing required. Experience as a buyer preferred. Experience in a make-to-order or engineer-to-order environment preferred. Strong ERP knowledge, particularly in supplier management and negotiations; JDE experience a plus. APICS or ISM certification a plus. Experience preparing presentations for executive audiences a plus. Experience working in a matrix organization a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong computer skills, including MS Word and Excel. Excellent communication and presentation skills, including MS PowerPoint. Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify root causes. Hands-on approach with a sense of urgency and commitment to targets.
