Job Description Job Description Are you a successful Buyer looking for a great opportunity with a leader in a specialized electronics industry? OVERVIEW : The Buyer coordinates the procurement and distribution of materials, parts, equipment and supplies for the organization. Also coordinates the activities related to procurement of a commodity beginning with intent to purchase through delivery. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Develop and maintain purchasing methods for efficient procurement of material in a cost-effective manner. Establish, maintain and promote positive relationships with vendors to ensure favorable terms and conditions. Checks inventory materials in order to determine economical ordering quantities and amounts needed to avoid production slowdowns. Analyzes the requirements of the commodity, including preliminary specifications, preferred supplier, and date commodity is needed, at the negotiated price, and meets the quality standards of the company. Maintains timely control of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and other documents to ensure accurate retention of records. Keeps informed as to present and future company manufacturing plans that will affect the procurement of materials. EDUCATION : Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a four-year college or four years’ related experience and/or training. EXPERIENCE : 4-6 years buying experience for a $10-$50 million company. Strong leadership experience. Proven track record in Purchasing. Must be a self-starter with the ability to handle multiple tasks. A plus to have Planning and/or Production Control experience. KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS : Effective negotiation skills with vendors. Purchasing processes / methods. Well-developed interpersonal skills.
