Overview Cement Materials Technician Pay: $51,000 - $64,000 Annually Summary: The Cement Materials Technician's primary function is to ensure Ozinga's quality standards are met and exceeded. This position is responsible for executing cement, slag cement and pozzolan testing, including chemical and physical testing. This involves performing testing, maintaining internal records, and ensuring good laboratory practices. This position works in a fast-paced environment with a need to respond to ever changing scenarios. Work duties will be performed primarily in a laboratory with some field work at various steel mills, distribution terminals, power plants and other manufacturing sites. The Cement Materials Technician position reports to the lab supervisor responsible for quality assurance and control of granulated blast furnace slag production and works closely with the Cement Technical Services Manager. Job Duties and Qualifications: Quality & Testing Focus - Conduct cement, slag cement, and pozzolan testing (chemical & physical) to ensure Ozinga's high-quality standards are met and exceeded. Lab & Field Work - Work primarily in a fast-paced laboratory setting with occasional field assignments at steel mills, terminals, power plants, and other manufacturing sites. Team-Oriented Environment - Collaborate with other departments, assist where needed, and work closely with the Lab Supervisor and Cement Technical Services Manager. Technical Skills & Equipment Use - Prepare samples, calibrate equipment, perform testing, manage lab inventory, and ensure all tools are in excellent working condition. Qualifications - High school diploma required (chemistry associate's degree preferred), valid driver's license, and 0-3 years of related experience. ACI/DOT certifications are a plus. Skills Needed - Strong organizational skills, quick learning ability, familiarity with ASTM/AASHTO testing standards, and excellent communication and computer skills. Shifts & Safety - Available for first (5 AM-1 PM) or second shift (2 PM-11 PM), with possible rotational Saturdays. Must maintain a clean, safe, and OSHA-compliant work environment.
