Job Description
On behalf of our client, a well-established company in the bulk commodities sector, we’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Logistics Coordinator to join their team in Devonbosch, Stellenbosch. The company focuses on transportation, warehouse handling, and the execution of sales contracts for bulk commodities. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in logistics, shipping, and port operations, and will be responsible for coordinating documentation, tracking shipments, and liaising with key stakeholders to ensure smooth operations. Key Responsibilities • Prepare and submit accurate shipping instructions (SIs), bills of lading, and related documentation. • Track shipments and keep ETA and ETD information updated on internal systems. • Ensure compliance with export/import and dangerous goods documentation requirements. • Coordinate with customers, silos, transporters, and service providers to confirm requirements and provide updates. • Liaise with internal teams, shipping lines, Transnet port terminals, and other stakeholders. • Maintain daily updates of container tracking and inventory records. • Arrange container transport and verify stock reports from depots or silos. • Assist with invoice preparation and reconciliation to ensure timely payments. • Provide excellent customer service by responding to client queries and offering recommendations. • Contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting ways to streamline operations. Requirements Certificate or diploma in International Trade, Freight Handling, Shipping, or related field. 1–3 years’ experience in logistics, shipping, or port operations. Experience in documentation coordination, import/export processes, or intermodal logistics. Solid understanding of port operations and international logistics documentation. Proficiency in MS Office and logistics systems (e.g., Navis, Order to Cash, or similar). Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent attention to detail and an analytical approach. Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively. Flexibility with working hours to meet operational demands. Problem-solving and conflict resolution capabilities. Experience with hazardous goods documentation, reefer operations, or bulk commodities is advantageous. Prior engagement with shipping lines, depots, silos, or port authorities is a plus.
