Job Description Job Description Cedar Valley Plumbing Supply (CVPS) is a growing plumbing wholesaler, that is a family run business who has been in business since 1976! With 2 warehouse locations in Southern California, with another one opening this year, we are seeking to hire an individual with strong customer service, who stays productive in down times, has a passion to be creative and is humbly confident in their decision making. The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for overseeing and managing all purchasing activities within CVPS and to ensure efficient procurement of materials, goods, and inventory maintenance and pricing. They will be able to build a purchasing department from scratch, and help with other projects in our inventory system. Responsibilities: Implementation of Purchasing Strategies: Develop and execute purchasing strategies that align with organizational goals, focusing on cost optimization and supply chain efficiency. This includes building out and cleaning up old inventory parts and updated pricing. Inventory Management: Monitor, forecast, and manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock, determine delivery timing, and reduce carrying costs. Contract Management: Administer, review, and negotiate contracts, ensuring compliance within the companies profit goals. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal departments to understand requirements and meeting with vendor to better understand new and innovative products. Process Improvement: Continuously enhance purchasing methods, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement systems to streamline processes. Requirements and Skills: Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager, Agent, or Officer with familiarity in sourcing and vendor management. Possess business acumen, negotiation, and networking skills. Experience with vendor management software (DDI INFORM preferred) and proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems. Strong analytical, data analysis, and problem-solving abilities. Solid judgment, decision-making skills, and strong leadership capabilities. Ability to work independently. A Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field is typically required, with relevant certifications preferred.
