Pay Information $1,894 per week About The Position Job Title: RN - PCU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - PIV starts - NG Tube placement/management - Management of various surgical drains - Chest tube management - Cardiac rhythm interpretation - Non-titratable cardiac drips Description: RN - PCU position available. Interested in Clinical Interviewing? The facility is a 457 licensed bed Trauma Level III Teaching Hospital. It is a Chest Pain Center and a Stroke Center of Excellence. The unit has 14 private rooms with no negative pressure capability. Patient types and common diagnoses include heart failure, chest pain, patients requiring fluid resuscitation/blood products, COPD, and cardiac catheterization pre/post care. The unit will transition this summer from Med/Tele to a PCU focus. The expected patient ratios are 1:4-5 for Med/Tele and 1:4 for PCU. Support within the department includes CNAs who assist with activities of daily living, bathing, foley care, mobility, and repositioning. They are trained to perform phlebotomy, 12 lead EKGs, and use glucometers. A charge nurse may or may not have a patient assignment. The facility provides a combined effort for phlebotomy between RNs and CNAs. An IV/VAT team is available. Respiratory Therapy is available 24/7. Hospitalists are also available 24/7, but not unit-based. Telemetry monitoring is available for patients when ordered. The nurses' station has visual capability to view EKGs. The EMR used is Epic, and the IV pump is Alaris. Medication dispensing is done through Omnicell. Unit-specific equipment includes a bladder scanner, EKG machine, and transport monitor. Floating will be required within the region and scope of practice as needed. Travelers will be paid for time spent traveling between facilities if floating mid-shift. Weekend rotation is every other weekend. Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays. Up to 6 days off may be approved, excluding holidays. Shift times vary, including 0645-1915 and 1845-0715, on a 6-week schedule cycle. Scrub color required is navy.
