Job Description
Job Title: RN Clinical Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Inpatient Nursing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Less than 1 year of direct patient care experience preferred License: Registered Nurse License (Single State or Multi-state Compact) Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Heparin IV administration experience, ability to work every other weekend, and two major and two minor holidays Description: The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers. They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders. Support is provided through the Shared Governance Model. The framework for practice is guided by a Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core values. All RN Clinical Nurses must be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice as outlined by the state's Professional Nurse Practice Act. They implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, the individual must uphold the voice of the patient and system policies. They are expected to support service excellence goals. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Performs the Nursing Process (assessment; diagnosis; identification of outcomes; planning; implementation and evaluation) in clinical care. Uses evidence-based practice and analytical thinking. Ensures care is individualized and coordinates care through effective partnerships. Provides relationship-based patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics. Partners with the patient and significant others as appropriate. Practices using current clinical practice standards. Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care. Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration. Practices in a fiscally responsible manner. Participates in performance improvement and supports research utilization. Completes all required initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and education. Serves as a preceptor and mentor to ensure a current and future qualified workforce. Promotes evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement in nursing. Upholds all healthcare system policies and procedures, including legal and accreditation requirements. Participates in data collection and addresses practice questions using appropriate resources. Proactively plans for the care of patients across the care continuum. Participates in the development of protocols and procedures to achieve best practice outcomes. Supports the efficient and effective use of resources. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Required Minimum Education: Associate's Degree in nursing or graduation from an accredited/approved school of nursing. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred. Required Minimum Skills: Ability to read, write, and speak the English language. Ability to optimize the use of technology in clinical care and possess basic computer skills. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies calmly and respectfully. Possess excellent time management skills and strong critical thinking abilities.
