Locum Physician (MD/DO) - General Surgery in New Mexico

A Hospital in New Mexico is seeking a skilled General Surgeon for a locum tenens assignment starting October 1, 2025, for 126 days. This role requires a versatile surgeon comfortable with a mix of clinic, OR, and 24-hour call duties, including endoscopies, laparoscopic procedures, and emergency stabilization. The ideal candidate will be able to commit to a minimum of 3 weeks per month, handling a variety of general surgery cases, assisting with C-sections, and managing low-volume call responsibilities. Job Details: Location: New Mexico Facility Type: Hospital Start Date: October 1, 2025 (earlier start possible with NM license) LOA: 126 days (with potential for extension) Provider Type Needed: General Surgeon Schedule: - 3 days clinic (8 AM - 5 PM) - 2 days OR (7 AM - 3:30 PM) - 24-hour call (low volume, 0-1 calls per 24 hours) Job Responsibilities and Duties: - Perform upper and lower endoscopies (majority of cases) - Conduct laparoscopic procedures, including gallbladder and appendix surgeries - Provide clinic consultations and follow-ups - Handle emergency surgical cases and stabilize patients for transfer when necessary - Assist OB/GYN team with C-sections as needed - Manage 24-hour call responsibilities - Utilize Cerner EMR for patient management and record-keeping - Collaborate with hospital staff, ED team, and OB/GYN department Additional Information: - Must be comfortable with a wide range of general surgery procedures - Experience with emergency stabilization and transfer decisions required - Willingness to assist with C-sections (not as primary surgeon) - Ability to commit to at least 3 weeks per month Apply now to learn more about this role and others!
