Job Description Job Description Position Title: Warehouse Supervisor (Bulk Break Cargo) Overview: Our client is seeking an experienced Warehouse Supervisor to join their team at their corporate headquarters in Sparrows Point, Maryland. The Warehouse Supervisor will oversee and coordinate warehousing and outside storage yard operations, specifically related to the loading and unloading of break-bulk cargo for vessels, rail, and trucks at the terminal. This role is critical in ensuring the safe, efficient, and accurate movement and storage of goods across the facility. Key Responsibilities: Supervise foremen, equipment operators, and laborers across assigned operational areas Manage general and break-bulk cargo in warehouse and terminal operations Champion safety protocols through effective communication, compliance, and enforcement of all safety, environmental, and business standards Serve as an ambassador for the client's SAFE Safety Program Lead daily safety briefings and monthly warehouse safety meetings Ensure safe and efficient performance of yard labor Properly utilize equipment and materials in accordance with safety guidelines Provide support for rail loading operations and ensure compliance with safety and handling procedures Maintain a working knowledge of warehousing best practices, including inventory methods such as FIFO and LIFO Understand and assist in over-the-road truck gate and scale operations Collaborate with terminal staff to coordinate safe and timely product transfers Oversee day-to-day warehouse and yard activities as directed by the Operations Manager Monitor details of cargo movement including placement in storage, inventory control, and customer-specific loadout requirements Mentor and train staff to build a stronger and safer workforce Foster a culture of teamwork and open communication throughout the operation Participate in warehouse improvement projects and business development initiatives Supervise cargo loading operations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to shipping instructions Prepare and submit detailed reports on warehousing activities, including labor hours and equipment use Perform additional duties as assigned Qualifications: Bachelor's degree OR high school diploma/GED with at least 3 years of experience in operations, including employee supervision Experience with break-bulk cargo terminal operations Ability to operate a forklift Strong leadership, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment Familiarity with terminal operating systems and spreadsheet software Valid driver's license and TWIC (or ability to obtain TWIC) required Physical Requirements: Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening (fit-for-duty evaluation) Ability to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift up to 75 lbs Must be able to work in all weather conditions, including rain, snow, ice, heat, and wind Visual abilities required include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus Compensation & Benefits: Salary range: $75,000 - $90,000, based on experience Immediate eligibility for health, dental, and vision coverage (individual and family plans available) Company-paid life, AD&D, and disability insurance (after eligibility period) Health Savings Account with potential employer contributions up to $2,500 3 weeks of paid time off (PTO) starting 2 weeks of paid parental leave 401(k) plan with employer match (up to $750, subject to eligibility) Tuition reimbursement available Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account option
