Location: Yakima, Washington Start Date: August 26, 2025 End Date: June 11, 2026 Schedule: Full-Time, School Days Daily Hours: 7:30 AM 3:00 PM or 8:30 AM 4:00 PM Caseload: Up to 60 students Age Range: Pre-K to 22 years Disability Range: Mild, Moderate, and Severe Renewal/Summer Potential: Based on district needs and performance Job Description: The Yakima School District is hiring a certified Speech and Language Education Therapist to provide holistic, evidence-based services to a diverse group of learners. In this full-time role, youll play a vital part in fostering both academic achievement and social-emotional growth by addressing communication barriers that may be holding students back. Your mission will be to support expressive/receptive language, phonological development, fluency, articulation, and pragmatic use of language in real-world school contexts. You will serve as a bridge between clinical expertise and classroom integration, guiding both students and educators toward better communication outcomes. Key Functions: Design and implement individualized speech-language programs and therapy plans tailored to each student's needs and IEP goals Conduct initial and ongoing speech-language evaluations using standardized and observational tools Provide therapy sessions in a variety of formats, including individual, small group, and in-classroom (push-in) models Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including special education teachers, occupational therapists, psychologists, and general educators Maintain up-to-date records, service logs, and progress reports in compliance with federal and district guidelines Offer staff and family training to support language development beyond therapy sessions Attend and participate in IEP meetings, eligibility determination conferences, and professional development opportunities Minimum Requirements: Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field Current Washington State License for Speech-Language Pathology Educational Staff Associate (ESA) Certification required for all school-based clinicians in WA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA Knowledge of IDEA, IEP processes, and educational therapy documentation Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work as part of a student-centered team Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in school-based or pediatric settings Familiarity with assistive technology and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices Cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse student populations Bilingual proficiency (Spanish-speaking clinicians are especially encouraged to apply) Why Join Yakima School District?
