What You Will Do: - Lead, manage, and support a team of social workers and practitioners working with Looked After Children, ensuring effective case management and high-quality service delivery. - Provide professional supervision, performance management, and development opportunities for team members. - Oversee the assessment, planning, and review of care plans for Looked After Children, ensuring they are child-centred and outcome-focused. - Ensure all statutory duties related to Looked After Children are met, including compliance with the Children Act 1989 and 2004, and relevant safeguarding legislation. - Work closely with children, families, carers, and partner agencies (health, education, police, and voluntary sector) to promote the welfare and safeguarding of children. - Monitor and evaluate the quality of social work practice within the team, implementing improvements where necessary. - Manage resources effectively, including caseload allocation and budget oversight. - Contribute to service development and strategic planning within Brent's Children's Services. - Represent the team and Brent local authority at multi-agency meetings, panels, and court proceedings as required. - Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of service delivery. Qualifications & Experience: - Qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England. - Proven experience in working with Looked After Children and child protection. - Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role within children's social care. - Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and best practice in child safeguarding and looked after children services. Skills & Attributes: - Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building effective relationships with children, families, and professionals. - Ability to manage complex and challenging cases with sound judgement and decision-making. - Organised and able to manage competing priorities effectively. - Commitment to promoting the welfare and rights of children and young people. - Resilient and able to work under pressure while maintaining professional standards.
