Job Description Job Description Job Responsibilities Obtain medical history particularly as related to present condition Establish and maintain positive clinical rapport with all patients and their families Provide care to patients of most ages and varying diagnosis receiving infusion therapy medication Establish and maintain all clinical documentation including plans of care, clinical summaries and medication changes and updates Clinical oversight of all patient functions, including but not limited to observing signs and symptoms of reactions and reporting assessments to physician, any changes in patient physical, emotional or environmental condition and patient/caregiver teaching Takes active role in unit-based performance improvement Provide comprehensive clinical therapeutic infusion services to patients in a controlled medical setting Performs and directs nursing procedures and prescribed treatments, based on knowledge of principles and practice of Registered Nurse Collect and label blood specimens for processing Documents and maintains records of medical and nursing procedures Infuse medications on a regular basis in the Office Infusion Center including monitoring and tracking vital signs, performing procedures such as IV placement, phlebotomy, and medication administration via peripheral infusion device; or PICC line; Implantable port; and/or Central Venous Catheters and as ordered by a licensed physician or licensed practitioner. Provide skilled care as outlined in the plan of care and according to the physician orders Completes patient visit document and submits documentation according to documentation policy Communicates patient needs and issues with supervisor Maintains ongoing knowledge of current patient infusion medications Maintain current State Nursing licensure, as required by the NC State Department of Health Compliance and adherence to all State and Federal regulations and laws, JCAHO, OSHA, HIPAA, CPR, all infusion pharmacy and nursing licensure accepted standards of practice Cooperate with other agencies providing nursing or related services to provide continuity of care and to implement a comprehensive care plan Teach patients and their care givers to achieve the highest level of independence possible in self-care and monitoring of their infusion therapy Work under pressure with clinical emergencies if required Meet attendance, overtime, on-call, and other reliability requirements of the job Monitors and maintains current inventory levels; processes purchasing orders as required; tracks orders and investigates problems. Records purchases, maintains database, performs physical count of inventory , and reconciles actual stock count to computer-generated reports. Prepare routine administrative paperwork Receive, unpack and organize supplies/drugs for patients Performs routine clerical duties, including data entry, answering telephones, and assisting patients as needed Education Completion of an accredited nursing program leading to an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (ADN or BSN) Licensure Must hold a current and valid North Carolina RN license Certification A Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) credential is a plus! Continuing Education : Stay current with advancements in infusion therapies, nursing practices, and regulatory requirements through continuing education courses and professional development activities.
