Chief Technology Officer

Founding CTO | London | £100,000 OTE £200,000 (Equity) I’m working with a fast-growing, early-stage start-up that’s on a mission to build a next-generation retail company. They’re aiming to reach £100m in revenue with a highly efficient engineering team. They’re now looking for a Founding CTO to join the team and lead the technical side of the business as they head towards Series A. The Role You’ll be joining a small but very capable team, including two bright junior engineers (with 0.5 to 2.5 years’ experience), and will be responsible for setting the technical direction, leading by example, and still getting your hands dirty writing code. What we're looking for: Strong experience in Python, Postgres, and Django Comfortable in production environments (systemd, Linux, cloud infrastructure) Experience building and scaling backend systems Ability to guide junior engineers and lead by example Obsession with speed, quality, and simplicity in product delivery Bonus: Interest in forecasting, supply chain, or AI/agent systems About you: You love building, across commercial, open-source, or hobby projects Intellectually curious and pragmatic You ship fast, take ownership, and hate bureaucracy You want to commit to a 5 year journey and build something huge from the ground up If you're a builder at heart and want to take full ownership of the tech in a high-velocity, mission-driven start-up, this could be a great fit.
