Head of Procurement

Head of Procurement Location: London (4 days on site) Salary: £65,000 – £70,000 per annum Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week Job Purpose This is a senior leadership role, responsible for managing and optimising the hospital’s procurement and supply chain functions. You’ll oversee approximately £25m in goods and services spend, ensuring a professional, efficient, and patient-focused supply chain service. Key Responsibilities Procurement Lead and execute the hospital’s procurement strategy. Monitor market trends, supply chain risks, and cost-saving opportunities. Use digital procurement tools (e.g., ERFX) to streamline sourcing. Collaborate with stakeholders to align procurement with organisational needs. Ensure compliance with regulatory, ethical, and internal policies. Lead vendor negotiations and manage contract renewals. Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes. Supply Chain Management Oversee supply chain operations across all hospital departments. Ensure the availability of goods and services to support high-quality care. Review stock usage and redeploy slow-moving items to reduce waste Align stock levels with departmental activity to improve efficiency Identify and deliver working capital improvement opportunities. Team Leadership & Development Build and manage a high-performing procurement & supply chain team. Lead the change process toward a best-in-sector function. Provide training and mentorship to support professional growth. Embed a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Skills & Knowledge Strong experience with stock and inventory management in complex environments Proficiency in stores procedures (rotation, replenishment, returns) Advanced data analysis and risk assessment capabilities Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
