Job Title: Senior Underwriter (with Brokering Responsibilities) Location: London (5 days in office) We are working with an ambitious and fast-growing InsureTech startup based in London, recently established as a full MGA in partnership. With strong traction in both Europe and the US, tjhey have built a cutting-edge digital platform offering flexible, fully remote, monthly subscription-based business liability insurance tailored to SMEs, contractors, and small businesses — including those up to £100M in turnover. They’ve already digitalised quoting and are expanding rapidly. With a strong pipeline of inbound lead, entrepreneurial team, they’re ready to scale — starting with the hire of our first dedicated underwriter . They are seeking a Senior Underwriter with strong commercial liability experience and a brokerage mindset . In this role, you will: Lead the underwriting function and be instrumental in building our broker team. Underwrite and quote digital business liability insurance products, both proprietary and from the wider market. Work closely with the sales team to convert leads into bound policies. Support placement in the open market when risks fall outside proprietary product appetite Act as the go-to insurance expert internally and externally — you’ll be the voice of underwriting Liaise with their capacity providers, and help refine pricing, risk appetite, and wordings. Contribute to the development of internal underwriting tools and processes as they scale. Who You Are Minimum 5 years' experience in commercial liability underwriting , ideally in the SME sector. Solid broking experience or strong broking instincts — you’re confident quoting in the open market and closing deals. Comfortable in a fast-paced, startup environment and excited to be hands-on as the first underwriter on the team. Familiar with digital insurance platforms and modern InsureTech models. CII qualified (or higher) Driven, flexible, and looking for real ownership in your role.
