Data Engineer (Fixed-term contract)

Job Description: Your responsibilities: As part of the Data Team, you will design, implement, and monitor our data pipelines and applications. You will build the infrastructure to ingest, process, and store IoT data streams, ensuring data quality, system reliability, and scalability. You will architect data flows and select appropriate tools and technologies for storage and processing services in the cloud. Additionally, you will design and develop machine learning infrastructure to train and run forecast models, execute data migration to modern, robust, cost-effective, and scalable systems. You will serve as a bridge between operations teams, Data Scientists, and DevOps, so strong interpersonal skills and a clear overview of processes are essential. Please note: this position is temporary until 31.12.2025, with the possibility of extension. Your profile: At least 3 years of experience as a data engineer. Proficiency in Python and SQL. Experience transforming data using Pandas and PySpark. Experience building big data pipelines. In-depth knowledge of Apache Airflow and similar ETL/orchestration tools. Experience with PostgreSQL databases and data transformation frameworks like dbt. Experience with data streaming and processing tools such as Apache Kafka, Spark, and Flink. Familiarity with containerization and deployment tools like Docker and Kubernetes. Experience with cloud data services, preferably in AWS. Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus. Valid work permit for Italy or EU nationality. Degree in computer science, statistics, data science, or related fields. Background in software engineering or OOP. Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines. Experience deploying machine learning models in production. Knowledge of MLFlow. Interest in Data Architecture. Knowledge of time series databases like Timescale.
