Forklift Technician (3x Positions)

As a forklift technician, the main purpose of the job is to work as a mechanic and service materials handling equipment such as forklifts. To fulfil the responsibilities and duties of this job, the incumbent must complete preventative and corrective maintenance, repair brakes and suspension systems, diagnose electrical issues, and train junior technicians as needed. Thorough Inspection Inspects forklift truck fleet to ensure trucks are working properly and safely. Inspection of forklifts Tests forklift trucks to ensure repairs are completed correctly. Ensure the painting of each unit has been completed. To ensure that all new and used equipment are repaired/serviced and assembled to agreed standards of quality, on time. Maintenance Maintains repair log for forklift truck fleet. Schedules and performs routine maintenance for forklift trucks. Repairs and maintains various types of forklift trucks including electric, petrol/gas-powered, and diesel powered. Do preventative maintenance on forklifts. Repair, maintain and service. Ensures batteries for electric forklift trucks are fully charged rotationally and charger working correctly. Testing of units To maintain a tidy, well-equipped van and toolbox and to present oneself to the customer asprofessionally as possible in appearance and conduct. To ensure that all load tests and or service stickers are updated and if a load test or serviceis due to inform the Contract Manager / Controller. Fault Finding Identifies any forklift trucks that need repairs. Notify supervisor of unsafe equipment or practice Fault finding and overhauling forklifts Customer Service Driving out to clients, fault finding on each unit and repairing on site. Must be willing and able to travel to customer sites in South Africa to attend to forklifts. Attend to forklift breakdowns immediately Adhoc Duties Performs other related duties as assigned. Overseeing all technicians Handing daily duties over to the respective technicians To keep accurate time sheets and travel logs. Essential Requirements of the Post (Minimum) Ability to use hand and power tools to repair forklift trucks Ability to read repair manuals for various types of forklift trucks. Excellent mechanical repair skills Preferred Requirements of the Post (Ideal) Ability to use hand and power tools to repair forklift trucks Ability to read repair manuals for various types of forklift trucks. Excellent mechanical repair skills Ability to follow instructions Analytic and Problem-Solving skills Qualifications Minimum Requirements Grade 12 Completion of Forklift Truck Mechanics Training Course Trade Tested in Forklift Technician Qualification 0 - 1 Years' Experience as a Forklift Technician Worked with Auto Forklifts Valid Forklift Licence Qualifications Ideal Requirements Grade 12 Completion of Forklift Truck Mechanics Training Course 1 - 2 Years' Experience as a Forklift Technician Worked with Auto Forklifts Valid Forklift Licence
