Ashtech - Network L2 Engineer - Routing & Switching

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Network L2 Engineer to join our team. As a Level 2 Network Engineer, you will be responsible for providing support and troubleshooting for network infrastructure, ensuring the optimal performance, security, and reliability of network systems. Key Responsibilities : - Provide Level 2 support for network-related issues, diagnosing and resolving complex network problems. - Manage and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices. - Monitor network performance and perform regular health checks to ensure high availability and reliability. - Assist in the implementation and configuration of network solutions, including LAN, WAN, and VPN. - Perform network diagnostics using network monitoring tools and troubleshooting methodologies. - Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to resolve escalated network incidents and problems. - Ensure timely resolution of service requests, incidents, and change requests according to SLAs. - Support network security by monitoring and troubleshooting security devices and protocols (e.g., firewalls, IPS/IDS). - Document network configurations, procedures, and incident reports for knowledge base and continuous improvement. - Assist with network upgrades, patch management, and maintaining hardware inventory. - Participate in disaster recovery planning and ensure network resiliency. - Stay up to date with new network technologies, trends, and best practices. Desired Skillset and Competencies : - 3 years of experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar network support role. - Solid understanding of networking protocols and technologies, such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, OSPF, BGP, and QoS. - Hands-on experience with network devices such as Cisco, Juniper, HP, or other network equipment. - Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG, etc.) - Experience with firewalls, VPNs, and network security protocols. - Ability to troubleshoot and resolve network-related incidents using network analysis tools and techniques. - Strong knowledge of network topology, design, and architecture. - Experience with network design, implementation, and documentation. - Knowledge of wireless networking, including Wi-Fi standards and technologies, is a plus. - Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment. - Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with attention to detail. - Strong verbal and written communication skills. - Certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network, or equivalent are highly desirable (ref:hirist.tech)
