Job Description
Minimum requirements: Relevant degree pr diploma. Computer literate MS Office. Min 2-3 years experience as a buyer. Fluent in English/Afrikaans. Excellent interpersonal and people skills. Must be organised and able to work under pressure. Personality Traits: Presentable (face of the company). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Self-motivated and committed. Positive attitude. Proactive and accepts responsibility. Team player. Trustworthy. Proactive, organised and dependable. Duties and responsibilities: Develops and maintains good relationships with new and existing local and international suppliers. Negotiates prices and delivery dates with suppliers. Negotiates payment terms and exclusivity deals with suppliers. Identifies opportunities in the current range and sources accordingly. Identifies ranges that are too wide and reduces the offering to achieve a better sell-through rate. Conducts competitive shop outs to determine if pricing is competitive. Source new brands and ranges applicable to the industry. Manages and creates stock files and product statuses for allocated departments. Manages gross profit margins. Forecasts and places replenishment orders. Places all orders for allocated departments. Follows up on outstanding orders. Writes and reports on sales details to management. Drives promotions, identifies promotional items, and supplies all details to the marketing department. Schedules in-store training with suppliers. Gives instructions to store rooms for inter-branch transfers to ensure the balancing of stock. Works closely with the planner according to a predetermined budget. Works closely with the operations manager and space planner when opening a new store. Performs seasonal buys and analyses ranges after a seasons sales.
