Job Description
Responsible to select, source and act as primary contact with suppliers. Negotiate supplier agreements/ contracts as well as promoting excellent vendor relations and ensuring that the company is receiving the best value for its dollar. Supports product development and manufacturing needs by purchasing parts needed for development and ultimately production builds. Also is responsible for supplying costing data to appropriate Managers and/or Project Leaders to phase new products into production. Actively participates on or leads project teams for manufacturing cost-downs and supplier audits. Provides guidance to Planner Buyers when needed. Responsibilities Coordinates procurement activities and leads procurement team projects, allocating resources. Advises on the creation, review and customization of procurement documentation, and develops standardized databases. Defines purchasing plans, bidding and negotiation strategies, including complex processes without local precedent. Develops purchasing policies and procedures, and advises internal clients on their application. Oversees procurement activities for new sites and manages purchase orders, requisitions and inventory tracking. Identifies solutions to improve cost, on-time delivery and overall quality in the supply chain. Acts as primary contact with suppliers and customers for problem resolution and standards compliance. Ensures availability of goods and services aligned to business schedules; generates purchasing reports and metrics. Manages invoice discrepancies and negotiates adjustments with suppliers for timely closure. Leads and develops the purchasing team as a mentor and coach, participating in EHS and 5S initiatives for continuous improvement. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in purchasing, inventory or supply chain management. Minimum 4 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in medical devices. Proficient in purchasing practices, contract negotiation and legal terminology. Knowledge of corporate accounting, administrative procedures and Oracle environment. Ability to influence, make decisions and lead teams. Excellent communication, negotiation and organizational skills. Ability to work independently, handle multiple priorities and adapt to constant change. Basic technical knowledge to interface with engineering and manage optimal inventory levels. CPIM or CPM certification required (both desirable); experience with Lean and Six Sigma tools. Highly team oriented, sense of urgency and problem solving in the area of materials and planning.
