Job summary Job summary: The MedicalReceptionist plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running ofthe GP practice. In addition to traditional reception duties, this roleinvolves basic triage of patient enquiries to ensure they are directedappropriately based on clinical urgency and service need. Main duties of the job Duties and responsibilities: Welcome patients and visitors . Answer incoming calls, manageappointment bookings, and respond to queries. Maintain and update patient recordsaccurately using clinical systems (e.g., SystmOne) Triage and CareNavigation Signpostpatients to the most appropriate clinician, service, or self-care option (e.g.,GP, nurse, pharmacist, NHS 111). We are looking to recruit a Medical Receptionist to support the work of our existing team of 20 staff members, clinical and non-clinical looking after 5470 patients Dispensing practice to 1864 patients Come and help shape the future of The Apples Medical Centre Job description Job responsibilities Welcome patients and visitors in apolite and professional manner. Answer incoming calls, manageappointment bookings, and respond to queries. Maintain patient confidentiality atall times. Handle incoming and outgoing post,emails, and administrative correspondence. Maintain and update patient recordsaccurately using clinical systems (e.g., SystmOne) Triage and CareNavigation Useagreed protocols and clinical templates to gather key information from patientsto determine the nature and urgency of their request. Signpostpatients to the most appropriate clinician, service, or self-care option (e.g.,GP, nurse, pharmacist, NHS 111) Escalate any concerns or red flagsymptoms to the duty clinician or senior staff. Supportappointment management to prioritise urgent care needs while ensuring accessfor routine issues. Maintain up-to-date knowledge ofavailable services and referral pathways to support care navigation. Competence in using IT systems and software (e.g., Outlook, clinical systems). Team player with a proactive and flexible attitude. Desirable Experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in general practice. Familiarity with SystmOne Basic triage training or experience in care navigation.
