Lead Data Engineer Fully Remote/ West Midlands Salary up to £75,000 per annum An exciting new opportunity has arisen to join a large retailer, known for their sustainability ethos within a Lead Data Engineer role. The company are based in the Midlands and the position is FULLY REMOTE. Key responsibilities: Lead the organisation's data engineering capability by managing and delivering strategic data projects, most critically the migration from Azure Synapse to Microsoft Fabric Lead the full lifecycle of the Microsoft Fabric migration, ensuring milestones are delivered on time and to quality standards. Ensure the successful day-to-day operation of the data platform and team Oversee upgrades and integration of new data sources into the Azure-based data ecosystem. Establish and enforce best practices for ELT pipelines, CI/CD, and governance, leveraging Microsoft Fabric, Purview and Azure DevOps Manage the Data Engineering team’s day-to-day workload, mentoring and upskilling individuals across various skill levels Act as an SME on Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric Skills required: Strong expertise in in Azure Synapse, Data Factory, Data Lake, and Microsoft Fabric. Proven leadership in data engineering roles with direct team management Experience managing large-scale data platform transitions. Deep knowledge of ELT pipelines, CI/CD (Azure DevOps), and data architecture Excellent stakeholder communication and project delivery skills Strong mentoring and coaching abilities This is a great opportunity for an experience Lead who is looking for a healthy balance between leadership and a hands-on/technical workload.
