Job Description
My client, a company based in the Southern Free State, is seeking a dedicated and energetic Hotel Manager to join their team at Xx. As Hotel Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and productive operation of several key departments, including Guest Relations, Concierge, Reservations, Front Office, and Housekeeping. You will also play a crucial role in managing the Heads of Departments within your division, overseeing their performance management, discipline, coaching, and development. Effective communication across all departments within Xx is paramount, as is ensuring that all information from the Principal Manager is cascaded accurately to your team. Adherence to the Xx Pledge is a fundamental aspect of this role. Your responsibilities will include: Creating a welcoming hotel environment for customers, maintaining high standards of service, meals, and housekeeping that align with the company’s expectations. Ensuring the smooth operation of the hotel, its facilities, infrastructure, services, and functions. Managing all staff reporting to this position, providing effective assistance, training, development, motivation, and monitoring of their activities. Maintaining a safe, harmonious, and enjoyable workplace environment for all staff members. Leading by example with a positive and enthusiastic approach. Collaborating closely with the Relief/Assistant Manager to build a strong and cohesive management team. Communicating and reporting to senior management regularly, adhering to company requirements. Developing a thorough understanding of the manager’s duties and ensuring they are executed to the company’s standards. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills: Excellent Customer Service Skills Strong People Management abilities Exceptional Communication Skills Effective Decision-making skills with a focus on resolving issues Proven Staff management experience Demonstrable Hospitality experience Experience working in remote areas or locations (advantageous) Basic computer skills (preferable) Minimum Requirements: Certificate or Diploma in Hospitality Management Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar hotel management role Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport Compensation and Benefits: The salary for this position will be commensurate with experience and skills relevant to the role, ranging from R30,000 to R50,000 per month gross. Additional benefits include: Accommodation: A two-bedroom flat with one bathroom, a TV lounge, and a kitchen, along with one secure parking space. Working Hours: Six days a week with one day off. You will also have one full weekend off per month (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday). Working hours are determined based on business needs, offering flexibility. Pension Fund: Participation in a pension fund with a 5% company contribution and a 5% employee contribution. Annual Leave: 21 days of annual leave. Incentive: An incentive structure will be discussed with the successful candidate after the successful completion of a 6-month probation period.
