As a Snowflake Developer, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining our modern data pipelines and data warehouse on the Snowflake platform. You will leverage your deep understanding of ETL/ELT processes and your expertise in SQL and cloud-based tools to build scalable, efficient, and reliable data solutions that drive business insights. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development lifecycle, from understanding data requirements to deploying and monitoring data pipelines. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders, to ensure that our data infrastructure meets their evolving needs. Your ability to work independently, solve complex problems, and take ownership of your tasks will be critical to your success. Key Responsibilities : - Design and Development of Data Pipelines : Architect, develop, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines using Snowflake and DBT (Data Build Tool). This includes defining data transformations, data quality checks, and efficient data loading strategies. - Cloud-Based ETL/ELT Implementation : Implement and support cloud-based ETL/ELT solutions utilizing Azure Data Factory (ADF) for data ingestion, orchestration, and transformation. - SQL Expertise : Design, develop, and execute complex SQL queries and scripts within the Snowflake environment for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT) purposes. - ETL Mapping and Data Loading : Develop ETL mappings and workflows to seamlessly load data from various source systems, including flat files and SQL Server databases, into our cloud-based Snowflake data warehouse. - SSIS to DBT Migration (Preferred) : Analyze existing SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) packages, optimize their logic, and translate them into efficient and maintainable DBT models within the Snowflake ecosystem. - Deployment and Management : Deploy and manage ETL packages and DBT projects within the Azure DevOps environment, ensuring proper version control, CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment) practices, and monitoring. - Performance Optimization : Analyze and optimize the performance of data pipelines, SQL queries, and DBT models to ensure efficient data processing and query response times within Snowflake. - Collaboration and Communication : Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and business users to understand their data requirements, provide technical guidance, and deliver effective data solutions. - Independent Problem Solving : Take ownership of development tasks, proactively identify and troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions independently. - Data Warehousing Concepts : Apply a strong understanding of data warehousing principles, including dimensional modeling (e.g., star schema, snowflake schema), data governance, and data quality best practices. Primary Skills : - Extensive Snowflake Experience : Proven hands-on experience in developing and managing data solutions within the Snowflake data warehouse platform. - DBT Proficiency : Strong practical experience in using DBT for data transformation, modeling, and workflow management within a data warehousing environment. - Advanced SQL Skills : Mastery in writing complex and efficient SQL queries for data manipulation, analysis, and transformation. - Azure Data Factory (ADF) Expertise : Solid experience in designing, building, and deploying ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory. - Azure DevOps Experience : Familiarity with Azure DevOps for version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and project management. - Data Warehousing and Cloud Concepts : Comprehensive understanding of data warehousing concepts, principles, and best practices, along with a strong grasp of cloud-based data solutions and architectures. Secondary Skills (Good to Have) : - Experience with any other ETL tools beyond ADF, with a preference for prior experience with SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) (ref:hirist.tech)
