Senior Engineer II About this team: The Senior Engineer II will be part of the Data Analytics team building real-time enterprise-level platform reporting solutions using Fabric Power BI from multiple sources such as Snowflake, Azure, AWS, JIRA, ServiceNow, etc. The ideal candidate will analyze data across multiple systems and work closely with the platform engineering team to build the optimal end-to-end BI solution using the full stack of Azure data services to satisfy business needs. In addition to these responsibilities, the candidate will ensure robust governance and security operations within the Fabric. The candidate will also be working with the platform administration team to configure security settings in line with organizational policies. The role involves working with cross-functional technology teams to analyze and build semantic data models, create reports and dashboards, manage data, evaluate results, and strategically display insights using visualization tools, DAX queries, charts, and relationships. Core Responsibilities: As a Senior Engineer II, you will work as the technical leader for the product(s) your team delivers. You will be counted on as a leader in your technology space, as you contribute to all areas of development and operations (pre-production to production). As a Senior Engineer II, you will dedicate a fair amount of time to the planning and discovery of tools and practices inside your given area of expertise. You will apply that knowledge by working closely with Staff Engineers to promote platform level change. Senior Engineer IIs, take production readiness and performance personally and help drive continuous improvement. You will be part of a day-to-day production release team and may perform on-call support functions as needed. You will be considered the technical owner of the production system(s) you work on and focus on how your product(s) are delivered and how to optimize them for efficiency, security and reliability. Main contributor for product roadmaps and reliability strategy Partner with project management to deliver status and performance updates Conduct research to aid in product development and tools selection Provide an escalation point and participate in on-call support rotations Actively monitor key metrics, reports on trends, and make improvement recommendations Facilitate an Engineering Community of Practice for your product(s) Contribute to engineering automation, management or development of production level systems Review product roadmaps and guide intake acceptance for a set of production systems Own reliability for a defined set of production systems Own the delivery lifecycle for a defined set of production systems Qualifications: BS in Computer Science or related The overall experience for the candidate is 10-12 years in relevant field. 8 years of experience as a Power BI developer in BI space is needed Experience working with Snowflake & Azure technologies is a must Working experience of scripting, data science and analytics (SQL, Python, PowerShell, JavaScript) is needed 2 Years of performance tuning and optimization, bottleneck problems analysis, and technical troubleshooting in a sometimes, ambiguous environment. 2 Years working with Azure cloud-based systems Experience working with cloud-based systems - Azure & Snowflake data warehouses will be an add Experience with Azure SQL Services will be an add Experience with reporting layer Fabric Power BI is necessary Experience with optimizing Semantic Models using various tools like DAX Studio, Tabular Editor, Performance Analyzer and monitoring the Capacity utilization is required. Working experience in designing data pipelines, table structures, and SQL queries is desirable Design, implement and monitor 'best practices' for Dev framework Experience working with large volume data; retail experience strongly desired. Working knowledge of CI/CD DevOps Process and Implementation. Working knowledge of building data integrity checks as part of delivery of applications. Working with larger teams to deliver projects. Technical expertise to build code that is performant as well as secure. Technical knowledge on infrastructure creation using Terraform is desirable Technical depth and vision to perform POCs and evaluate different technologies. A day in the life: Co-ordinate with multiple data source teams in building Power BI dashboards adhering to industry standards, policies, and best practices. Fabric Power BI administrative tasks such as configuring workspace, capacity management etc. Building Scalable Data Solutions Mentor Junior resources and drive end to end design, implementation and delivery of engineering components. Communicate with and educate both senior and junior colleagues to further embed data science and analytics across the organization Strive for continuous improvement of code quality and development practices Self-learn new technologies and deliver on them. Building and maintaining solutions in highly available environments. Translate business issues to technical terms. Understand, leverage and apply best practices effectively. Also leads by example and comes up with coding standards and best practices for technology. Collaborate with cross-functional teams business stakeholders, engineers, program management, project management, etc. - to produce the best solutions possible. Anticipate system/application challenges and propose solutions for the same. Contribute to story sizing and work estimates for implementation, validation, delivery and documentation. Review user stories to ensure a quality user experience, well-defined acceptance criteria and thorough test coverage. Participate in design and code review to ensure quality and testability of feature code. Finalizing the design decisions. Working with the project managers for work estimation and release planning. Work with the production managed service team to ensure seamless release process. Reviewing the technical architecture and ensuring the design follows the organization tech landscape and standards. Work with other teams to implement or reuse development practices across the organization. Building a joyful environment to work and innovate together. Mitigating and documenting the risks related to different implementations.
