Job Description
Lead Data Engineer – Newcastle Permanent | Full-Time A leading, technology-driven retailer is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to join their innovative and fast-paced team. With a strong global customer base and an industry-leading e-commerce and retail presence, the company offers a dynamic environment where technology, data, and creativity meet. The Lead Data Engineer will be responsible for developing, integrating, and maintaining data solutions that align with business objectives. This is a crucial role within the team, requiring a proactive approach to designing, implementing, and maintaining robust data warehouse solutions. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain scalable data solutions to support business needs. Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather and understand data requirements. Ensure technical solutions are efficient, secure, and meet stakeholder expectations. Utilise big data technologies and integration tools to manage and process large datasets. Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of data operations and infrastructure. Skills and Experience Required: Proficiency in SQL, Python, Scala, and R. Experience with Big Data technologies such as Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Synapse, Spark, and Kafka. Familiarity with database management systems including SQL Server and PostgreSQL. Knowledge of data integration and ETL tools (e.g., Talend, Informatica, Apache NiFi2). Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to manage and interpret large datasets. Previous experience working within data operations teams. Experience with D365 Finance & Operations (F&O). Background in an e-commerce or supply chain environment is highly desirable. Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Business Intelligence, Computer Science, or a related field.
