SENIOR ENGINEER NPI About the Role - The Product Launch Phase for new products introduced into our factories. readiness which includes oversight of preparation efforts for process, quality, materials ramp-up and any other key enablers which provide the foundation for a successful product launch. The role is to be the partner of the Program Manager who is the voice of the production facility that provides the Program Manager feedback on what the factory team needs in order to have a successful launch event. Functions at a Senior Level of the organization to manage and exercise discretion over the day to day operations of the essential function and of Continuous Improvement of the organization for North America. Qualifications A bachelor’s degree in engineering. 5-7 years of automotive product launch experience Automotive program/project coordination. Experience and/or production processes required. Knowledge of program/project management software. Basic Knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 Knowledge of APQP Knowledge of SAP Knowledge of Confluence MS Project. Core documents Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is a must. Responsibilities: Execute pre-production checklist to verify product and process readiness and report out to program manager. If new product, develop checklist with program team. Synchronize launch readiness efforts with all factory team members and factory managers who are responsible for individual functional areas. Participate in program gate reviews and support program manager by working with factory team members to have their evidence available. Coordinate and potentially be involved in production floor in activities for industrial engineering such as: layout, line balancing, machine setup, SBR (Sample Build Request) production, etc. Create an escalation report in conjunction with the functional team when any issue or potential delay is identified during the pre-production builds, including action plan follow up Escalate to Operations Manager, Program Manager, Program Management if launch readiness activities are jeopardized by insufficient support / insufficient resources Follow up with responsible functions to ensure that all fixtures, jigs, production tools, new equipment, materials, documentation (work flows, work instructions, PFMEA, etc), and test programs are ready in time for builds as agreed with Program Manager as part of launch readiness activities. Lead run at rate events and assure the industrialization of the line is according to customer specifications. Creation in coordination with process engineer, of Standard of work for new machines to be requested. Support compliance of information required by customer in portals. Create RFQ for new programs, specifically for industrialization by utilizing the program volumes and current machines utilization to calculate prices of machines and tooling needed. Follow up on the completion of customer specific documentation by working closely with process, quality and business unit leaders to fulfill and submit documentation on time Work with program team to ensure SAP workflow is executed in time for factory team to be successful. Escalate to PM when roadblocks exist. Provide meeting minutes of team preparation meetings. Support Program Manager attending to program meetings when necessary Participate in Pre-Production failure analysis as agreed with the Program Manager. Lead the pre-production sample construction for DV and PV. Coordinate and actively participate in SBR construction. Support running changes on existent current production programs. Participate in Engineering changes meeting lead by PM. Compliance of LPA and findings related to these audits. Gain solid technical understanding of all products where responsible for launch; seek training as necessary to build technical understanding; develop local subject matter expertise. Escalate workload issues to Manager, Program Management as necessary in order to ensure that appropriate emphasis remains on proactive preparations prior to build events and prior to customer visits; avoid daily interruptions which distract from proactive work. Support preparation activities for delivery of product designed packaging materials to avoid unintentional damage during transit. Ensure fast and accurate response to Program Management as necessary to provide excellent customer support. Contact Program Manager for support as necessary to ensure fast and accurate technical responses.
