Daily treatments may not exceed 30 per shift. Workloads may vary based on patient volume. Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, PALS, CRT or RRT, and STABLE. NRP is only necessary for specific units involving infants. Patient demographics range from NICU to geriatrics. Responsibilities encompass ICU, stepdown, MedSurg, and a small pediatric unit. There is no PICU or advanced NICU unit. Ventilator support is provided occasionally. Areas of coverage include inpatient and emergency services. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with one year of experience and first-time travelers are welcome. Experience with NICU is essential. Duties include drawing and analyzing ABGs, providing breathing treatments, and assisting with BiPAP and CPAP. The role may involve assisting with bedside bronchoscopy, but EKGs are not performed. Candidates are required to assist with intubation and may place an LMA. There will always be a team lead or charge therapist present during shifts. Travelers may be assigned as charge therapists based on experience and willingness. Travelers are not the only respiratory therapists on duty. Required equipment includes Drager vents, Cervo-NICU, Hamilton transport ventilators, vapotherm, and Philips models. Shifts are scheduled for 12 hours, running from 6 PM to 6 AM. Self-scheduling and block scheduling options are available. Attendance at departmental meetings is mandatory once a month. Weekend duties are required every other weekend. Holiday work is expected based on operational needs. Call requirements are minimal due to low census contracts. Floating to various units may be necessary, including ICU and ER. The designated scrub color is hunter green, which is not provided. Orientation will consist of one week tailored to experience.
