HR Assistant

This is a unique opportunity to join their HR team on a 12-month maternity cover contract as an HR Assistant. Based in beautiful Bedfordshire, this part-time role is ideal for someone looking to balance work with other commitments. You’ll be working 2 days per week (with some flexibility on working pattern), supporting the business across a range of HR duties in a trusted and people-first environment. You’ll be providing hands-on HR support across all areas of the employee lifecycle, helping maintain a smooth and efficient people function. You’ll become a go-to contact within the business, known for your discretion, professionalism, and friendly approach. Key Responsibilities: First-line support for day-to-day employee relations matters, escalating when needed. Support with internal investigations, interviews, and note-taking. Maintain up-to-date and compliant employee records and HR systems. Manage joiner and leaver processes, including onboarding and exit interviews. Respond to queries on HR policies, processes, and benefits. Draft salary review, promotion, and flexible working letters. Provide payroll support as required. Handle sensitive information with professionalism and care. Contribute to wider HR projects and collaborate with the broader people team. What We’re Looking For: 3 years’ experience in an HR Assistant or HR Advisor role. Knowledge of UK employment law and best practice HR processes. Highly organised, detail-focused, and confident handling confidential matters. Excellent communication skills and approachable, solutions-focused style. Strong IT skills (MS Office, HRIS, digital filing).
