Job Description
Job Title: Manager, Mexico Operations Location: Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico Compensation: $77,917–$94,917 MXN per month Job Summary: The Manager, Mexico Operations is responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse distribution operations, including inventory management, import/export compliance under the IMMEX Maquiladora Program , customer service, and facility management. This role ensures operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and high service levels while driving continuous improvement initiatives. Additionally, the Operations Director will support the operational needs of the sales team , including managing the car program and ensuring seamless coordination between sales and distribution operations. A key aspect of this role is to standardize operational processes and ensure alignment with U.S. corporate expectations , implementing best practices and corporate directives to maintain efficiency, compliance, and performance consistency across the organization. The Operations Director will also be responsible for building and implementing a robust MRP (Material Requirements Planning) process to optimize inventory purchasing based on demand forecasting. This includes close collaboration with sales teams to anticipate market trends and provide thought leadership on sales opportunities through data-driven inventory and supply chain strategies. Job Responsibilities: Warehouse & Inventory Management: Oversee warehouse operations, ensuring efficient inventory control, accuracy, and optimal space utilization. Develop and implement strategies to improve warehouse productivity, reduce shrinkage, and enhance inventory accuracy. Implement and monitor KPIs to track operational efficiency, order fulfillment, and stock levels. Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations. Manage warehouse leases , including negotiations, renewals, and cost assessments to ensure alignment with business needs. Assess opportunities for warehouse consolidation and optimization , identifying cost-saving initiatives and operational efficiencies. Evaluate the effectiveness of 3PL (third-party logistics) partners , making recommendations on contract renewals, renegotiations, or transitions based on performance and cost-effectiveness. MRP Process Development & Inventory Purchasing Optimization: Design, implement, and manage a Material Requirements Planning (MRP) process to improve inventory forecasting and procurement efficiency. Balance inventory purchasing with demand , ensuring optimal stock levels to meet customer requirements while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory. Collaborate with sales, procurement, and finance teams to develop accurate demand planning models. Improve supply chain responsiveness by optimizing lead times and supplier coordination. Implement data-driven decision-making tools to enhance purchasing accuracy and cost efficiency. Sales Support, MRP Collaboration & Thought Leadership: Partner with th e sales team t o ensure operational alignment with business objectives and customer commitments. Work closely with sales leaders to integrate market intelligence and customer demand forecasting into MRP planning for proactive inventory management. Provide thought leadership on sales opportunities , leveraging supply chain insights to identify growth areas and ensure inventory availability for strategic sales initiatives. Support sales logistics, ensuring timely delivery of products and materials to customers and sales representatives. Manage and oversee the car program, including vehicle procurement, maintenance, compliance, and assignment to sales personnel. Ensure fleet availability and cost efficiency while maintaining compliance with company policies and local regulations. Import/Export & IMMEX Maquiladora Program Compliance: Manage all import/export processes, ensuring full compliance with Mexican customs regulations under the IMMEX Maquiladora Program . Maintain accurate records and documentation to meet customs audit and compliance requirements. Work closely with customs brokers, logistics partners, and regulatory agencies to streamline import/export procedures and minimize delays. Oversee tariff classification, duty exemptions, and ensure compliance with VAT regulations applicable to IMMEX operations. Customer Service & Client Relations: Lead the customer service organization, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and on-time order fulfillment. Develop service strategies to enhance client experience, reduce response times, and optimize order processing. Address and resolve customer escalations in a timely and professional manner. Standardization, Inventory Coordination & Alignment with U.S. Corporate Expectations: Develop and enforce standardized operational processes that align with U.S. corporate policies, compliance requirements, and best practices . Ensure that reporting, inventory controls, and operational workflows meet corporate benchmarks for efficiency, cost management, and quality. Coordinate inventory movements between the staging facility in El Paso, Texas, and the Mexico distribution center , ensuring efficient transfers, proper tracking, and timely fulfillment. Oversee reconciliation of inventory between locations , ensuring accuracy, compliance with customs requirements, and alignment with corporate financial reporting. Collaborate with the Controller in Mexico to ensure optimal efficiencies in payments, cash collections, and compliance initiatives , supporting financial accuracy and operational efficiency. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance alignment with global business strategies. Act as a key liaison between Mexico operations and U.S. corporate leadership , ensuring clear communication and execution of corporate directives. Facilities Management: Oversee facility maintenance, security, and compliance with local regulations. Develop strategies to improve warehouse layout, material handling, and infrastructure efficiency. Ensure the facility operates in a safe and sustainable manner. Leadership & Continuous Improvement: Lead and mentor a high-performing operations team, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation. Implement Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies to optimize operations. Monitor industry trends and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Qualifications & Experience: Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Logistics, or related field. MBA preferred. Experience: 10 years of experience in operations, supply chain, or logistics management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Expertise in: Warehouse operations, inventory control, MRP implementation , demand planning, import/export regulations ( IMMEX Maquiladora Program ), customer service, and fleet management. Skills: Strong leadership, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Languages: Fluent in Spanish and English. Certifications (Preferred): APICS, Six Sigma, or Lean Management.
