Storage Software Engineer

This role focuses on providing full design, planning, configuration, documentation, deployment, and top-level support for storage infrastructure technologies. You will be responsible for designing storage solutions, troubleshooting performance issues, and working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure system performance and reliability. Additionally, the role requires involvement in software development, testing, and maintenance of products and tools, following best-in-class development lifecycle processes. Key Responsibilities: - Design storage solutions according to business requirements. - Perform storage workload modeling for sizing, optimization, and troubleshooting. - Identify design requirements and make recommendations for capacity planning and future optimizations. - Troubleshoot storage-related reliability, availability, and performance issues. - Identify and eliminate performance bottlenecks, making recommendations for hardware, software, or configuration improvements. - Work closely with application integration, system administration, and problem management teams. - Collaborate in implementing architecture recommendations for preventive maintenance, performance tuning, and overall system optimization. - Participate in the software development lifecycle, including research, new development, modification, security, error correction, and software reuse. - Lead or participate in the testing and fixing of new or enhanced products. - Develop, test, and integrate new code for software development or enhancements. - Create technical documentation for software products/solutions. - Assist in the development and review of user documentation and technical documents. - Clearly communicate project issues and provide responsive customer service to business partners. - Drive idea generation for new software products or the next version of existing products. - Gather business requirements, participate in product definition, and prioritize features based on customer feedback and usability studies. - Make performance-related recommendations for both hardware and software to improve system efficiency. - Provide sustaining or maintenance support to the existing software/storage environment. - Follow source code revision control practices. - Accurately log project schedules, defects, and other data into the appropriate databases. - Work with the team to develop and communicate current development schedules and timelines. - Ensure product delivery within budget, schedule, and quality guidelines. - Protect intellectual property by collaborating on legal matters such as procurement, patents, and open-source software. Required Qualifications : - Proven experience as a Software Engineer or in a related technical role, with at least 4 years of experience. - Experience in troubleshooting hardware issues and performing system failure analysis. - Familiarity with configuring storage solutions and providing support in a high-performance environment. - Knowledge of storage virtualization, data rationalization, and workload automation. - Strong understanding of storage provisioning, Disaster Recovery, and SAN Fabric management. - Basic proficiency in Python for scripting and automation tasks. - Experience with configuration tools like PPCM and Mtrack. - Experience in software development, including writing, testing, and integrating code. - Experience with source code revision control and working in development cycles like Agile or Waterfall. - Strong skills in performance tuning and system optimization. - Familiarity with performance bottlenecks and ability to resolve them through system or software changes. - Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team. - Ability to log and report on project schedules, defects, and status updates in project management tools (ref:hirist.tech)
