Permanent Part Time and Casual positions available across the Inspire@Home program, Located in the South of Tasmania CatholicCare Tasmania is the primary social services agency of the Catholic Church across Tasmania. We have 60 years’ experience delivering a wide range of services and support to improve individual, family and community wellbeing. Our services are available and open to all with a particular focus on families, young people and children. Overview of the Program CatholicCare’s Inspire@HOME program provides direct care in a residential setting to young people aged 12-18 years of age on a rostered 24 hours a day, 7 day per week basis. Youth workers are a vital part of a collaborative team that operates from a trauma informed, strength based, person centred approach, to support and promote the emotional, psychological, and social well-being of young people. Supports provided to young people are focused on the domains of the Tasmanian Child and Youth Wellbeing Framework - being loved and safe, having material basics, being healthy, learning, participating, and having a positive sense of culture and identity. The Position A youth worker’s day is filled with an array of experiences. It is rewarding, energising, uplifting and at times challenging due to the presenting needs of young people residing within the houses. It requires a range of skills that can be demonstrated in an often-fast paced environment that requires mental flexibility, self-awareness, adaptability and skill in understanding young people’s behavioural presentation when distressed and how best to respond providing support to young people navigating complex trauma. Key duties of youth worker role include: • Providing a safe base and secure haven for young people in the Inspire@Home program. • Working in a cohesive and collaborative team environment to provide therapeutic support to meet young people’s goals and objectives. • Household duties, which includes cleaning, and the preparation of nutritional meals. • Developing and maintaining working relationships with young people, colleagues, support systems and services to meet best outcomes for and with young people. • Transporting young people to and from school to appointments and activities. • Appropriate and effective verbal and written communication and clear and concise documentation. • Understanding and abiding by policies and procedures in all that we do and undertaking administrative tasks as required to meet contractual obligations. • Completing core mandatory training and refreshers. About you What you bring You are flexible, adaptable and open to learning. You build rapport quickly and remain non-judgmental. This role requires you to have resilience and good professional boundaries. You understand the impact on children and young people of developmental trauma and work with your team to ensure the wellbeing and safety of our young people is maintained. You will be comfortable with computers and completing the admin tasks required. This role requires candidates to be available across morning, afternoon and sleepover shifts on a 24/7 roster. Essential Requirements • Satisfactory National Police Check. • Current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Card. • Current Tasmanian driving licence. • Current Provide First Aid training certificate or willing to obtain on commencement. • Have completed a Diploma of Community Services or relevant qualifications and/or willingness to undertake study.
