Safe Space Team Leader (Daily Operations)

Based in Hobart CBD Fixed Term Part Time 4 days a week till February 2026 (Linked to parental leave) Mon, Tue, Wed & Fri – 8:30am to 5:06pm Excellent employee benefits – 5 weeks’ annual leave (pro-rata) Generous salary packaging benefits (increase your net salary by legally reducing the tax you pay!) Our Safe Space program provides 24-hour safety and support for people experiencing homelessness. The day program is a space for people to relax, have a meal and connect with important support services. The night space is a place for community members to sleep, with beds and meals provided. We are seeking a professional client-focused people-leader to join our team! You will be working alongside with another program leader and collaborating with key stakeholders to enable the development and delivery of the Safe Space Program, to provide support to Hobarts Homeless Community. You will also be responsible for the management of the human and financial resources within the team in accordance with policies, procedures, objectives and goals of the organisation. Reporting to a supportive manager, you will be responsible for the following: Manage the operational development and implementation of the program Plan, control and evaluate the functions of the program Provide leadership and coordination to the program team through the promotion of open communication, teamwork and delegation Manage staff roster and liaise with payroll to manage timesheets and all payroll functions Respond to client incidents and reports About you: Relevant Degree, Diploma or experience in social work, community welfare, psychology, mental illness, drug & alcohol dependency, nursing or other related field Solid understanding of legislation around working with the homeless community, such as privacy and confidentiality, local council regulations, Health and Safety regulations Experience managing a team Demonstrated ability to work with vulnerable individuals experiencing issues with drugs and alcohol and homelessness Excellent listening skills with ability to quickly assess and respond to risks Demonstrated ability to show initiative, prioritise and solve problems in a challenging and dynamic environment Your dedication and hard work will be rewarded with: Pride that your work will positively impact the lives of our clients A friendly/supportive/professional development environment Hobart City Mission (HCM) brings together people who want to give to and support those most in need in our local community, through the provision of client focused, holistic and innovative programs and services.
