Purpose: As the Manager – Community Safety & Rural Lands Services, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Community Safety and Rural Lands Services departments. This role is critical in ensuring that these functions operate efficiently, align with Council's broader strategic objectives, and deliver high-quality services to the community. Reporting to the Director – Regional Development, Environment & Planning, you will play a key role in policy development, regulatory compliance, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement. You will drive innovation, enhance operational efficiencies, and lead a high-performing team to achieve Council's service delivery goals while maintaining a strong focus on legislative compliance and risk management. Qualifications and Licences t o be successful, you'll need: Current C (Car) Class Driver Licence Ability to undergo training to be appointed as a Local Government Worker and Authorised Person Tertiary qualifications in the discipline of environmental health, Sciences, Land Management, Business (or other related field of study); or attained through previous appointment, service and/or study, an equivalent level of expertise and experience to lead and manage the department and undertake the range of duties required. Desirable Qualifications and Licences: Although not mandatory, the below qualifications and licences are considered beneficial to the role: Experience in Local Government Regulatory Services and/or an equivalent position in a similar sized organisation would be highly regarded. Certificate IV in Government Investigations (Regulatory Compliance Specialisation) Required Skills and Experience: To be successful in this role you will have: Proven ability to manage, lead, motivate and support a diverse workforce which is professional, ethical, and inclusive and which enables individuals to achieve operational and strategic outcomes within a safe and constructive workplace. Highly developed oral communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels and from all backgrounds, and the ability to act tactfully in sensitive situations. Ability to conduct complex inspections and investigations to produce effective outcomes within the boundaries of the applicable legislation, policies, and procedures. Excellent written and administrative skills with high attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to prepare clear and concise reports, providing well considered and informed recommendations. Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and organise teams working in a fast paced – high workload environment to achieve goals and meet deadlines, including dealing with competing demands and managing multiple projects and tasks. Proficient user of computers and systems and the ability to acquire competent computer skills in Councils corporate computer systems including Authority, Record Manager, and the Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) Ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to Maranoa Regional Council's values and team goals.
